Hello Wren!
It’s not quite as hot today. Yesterday it was humid and went up to 88! I did some watering and mulching in the little private park in the neighborhood where I am the volunteer gardener. When I went to buy mulch I brought a friend along and we did a bit of plant shopping (90% of the plants I bought are for jobs this week). Got a bunch of impatiens which were on sale, many petunias (mostly shades of pink and purple!), trailing lobelia in blue and white, and some perennial snapdragons.
I’m working until 5:30, then going to do some more planting and mulching in my gardens here; I have a columbine to plant, and some dianthus, and container planters to finish up with a trailer silvery vine. Then I want to go water my vegetable garden. There’s a chance of rain here, which we need desperately, but I don’t think we’ll get any. I have to do more digging and planting in the veggie garden too, but it’s too hot today.
Okay, hmm, JUST AS I FINISHED THAT SENTENCE, a wind came up and rain started falling! Wow! Nature is healing. :-) Might just be a passing shower but we need it desperately. Grateful I can miss an evening of watering the veggies.
Here’s some of the irises that opened yesterday and today! And another pink columbine for you…and a shot of Nigel chilling in the hot garden this morning…
